Day 4 - We get our peaches down in Georgia!

We made it to Georgia today! We started our morning in the Walmart parking lot in Virginia right by the North Carolina border. Brandon and I did some light shopping at 7 am, which is now the only time I want to ever go to Walmart. We bought cold cuts and rolls to make sandwiches - the looooong way for lunch. (It's from a tik-Tok where the guy makes a peanut butter and jelly on a sub roll AKA the looooong way)

Boondocking in the Walmart parking lot was interesting. We were safe and unbothered, but my mind was restless.  I kept thinking I heard something or someone, then I couldn't fall asleep. I'm not a fan and I'm sure we won't make it a normal occurrence. I think I would prefer a rest stop or truck stop. Knowing that everyone else there is also sleeping or resting might put my mind at ease.

We drove about 2 hours, stopped to fill up, then drove another hour and a half and stopped for our lunch. Nothing super exciting to report today. And for that, I am thankful!

We are spending the night in Georgia and continuing tomorrow to our first RV resort in Bushnell Florida. Just an FYI, if you are looking for a place to stay that is economical AND clean, the Red Roof Inn hasn't disappointed. No frills, but hot showers and comfortable beds. They are even pet friendly. We even have joining rooms this time! Bruce, Socks, and Alfred are enjoying going between the two rooms.

Alexis might drive tomorrow. There aren't any hills and the only way for her to learn is to keep doing it. Right? Right? Right... I'll update tomorrow if it was successful or excessively stressful.

What we learned today:

  • When classic rock is on the radio, I (Andrea) become my dad. I found myself using the steering wheel as a drum set or guitar. As soon as I realized that I stopped... Then it snuck up on me and I started again. There are worse things, right?
  • Drink water! Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!
  • Socks likes to scope out what's going on. It helps him nap better. Don't worry, we were parked while he climbed on my shoulder and covered my face.
  • Georgia has really good Puerto Rican food.
  • Other states still have plastic bags!? Exciting and confusing, especially as a family that has limited space. Now we have to find a spot for our plastic bag full of plastic bags.
Much Love,
The Blackshire's

365 Days of Roaming!

Today is the official 365th day of being on the road. It's crazy to think about all we have done in the last 365 days, and even crazier...
