Day 3 - Back on track!

Today started off by brining Shakira (the truck) to the GMC dealership to figure out why the dash was blank. We didn't know how long it would take so we were preparing to have to stay one more night in West Viginia. The dealership called us back and let us know that the issue had resolved itself (seems like par for the course). So, we were off by 12:30!

We were driving for about an hour and the truck decided to limit its power. Evidently it is a common issue, but we have never experienced it. Google to the rescue! We basically had to do what any tech support would say to do. Turn it off and turn it back on again. Voila! The issue was resolved... until it happened again. So off again, and on again. We haven't had the issue since. Captain Blackshire figured it had to do with all of the hills we were driving on. These West Virginia hills are crazy! That truck and trailer slows down faster than me hitting a hill on my road bike in the wrong gear.

All in all, we drove about 5 and a half hours today. We did it! We are currently parked and boondocking at a Walmart in Virginia. Home is literally wherever we park it.

Tomorrow's plan is to drive another 5 to 6 hours and then stay the night at another hotel. This way we can shower and get all refreshed for the final day of travel to our first destination: Bushnell Florida.

Things we learned today:

  • We CAN do this!
  • Socks will poop in the litter box while we drive.
  • Three teenage girls will argue over anything and everything.
  • Ariana might be a cat.
  • Bruce sits super weird and smiles for pictures.
  • When you are pulling a trailer go slow when you have to. Do not push it!
  • When you are going slower than 45 mph, put those hazards on.
  • Enjoy the little victories! Today was a win.
Much love,
The Blackshire's

365 Days of Roaming!

Today is the official 365th day of being on the road. It's crazy to think about all we have done in the last 365 days, and even crazier...
