Not too much has gone on around here recently, which is why we haven't had any updates... until now! Yesterday, May 1, we skied! IN MAY! Brandon and I went out for two runs to celebrate skiing from mid-November until May. This is officially our longest ski season ever. The snow wasn't great, but it was still snow. We skied in pants and hoodies, and it was freeing. The ride up the chair lift was sunny with a warm breeze. We weren't the only crazy people out there either; there were fun costumes and people having a really great time. We didn't stay for all the festivities because, ya'know, work, but we did in fact get to ski.

Day 254 - 278: All the way to MAY!
Ok, now a little rewind. What else went on in the last month? The pools are all open! We have been enjoying the nice 85-degree pools, and the even warmer hot tub. We have also discovered pickleball, and Alanna is obsessed. She would play every day if we were able to. Alanna had a night at Millcreek Commons, which is an outdoor skating rink. In the winter it is ice skating, in the summer it is roller skating. We went on opening day so there were venders, food trucks, a DJ, and a bunch of different skating groups out supporting. The teams were all introduced and did a lap around the rink, there were even skate-dancing groups that performed. The whole evening was super fun EXCEPT for the fact that Brandon and I had the worst ice cream we have ever had. That's right, we couldn't even finish the cones we ordered. I don't even know how to describe how terrible it was besides comparing it to what I would imagine cleaning supplies taste like. I ordered my peach and vanilla twist with sprinkles and the sprinkles were even terrible. I thought I was over it, but writing this has brought back all the bad feelings. It will be days before I'm okay again. I may need another round of redemption ice cream!
Alanna also had a skate-a-thon fundraiser for derby. She made the calls for donations and pledged to skate at least 100 laps. Luckily our generous donators put a max donation because Alanna did 305 laps, and probably could have done more. Alanna's official jersey came in! She loves it, and it looks pretty great on her.
Brooklyn had to get service done again this month, she needed to have a fuel line replaced. Yay for spending more money! Bruce has also been not doing so great this month. He had an eye infection that lingered for far too long despite being on antibiotics. We took him to the local vet who gave him a topical antibiotic, which also didn't work so we went into Salt Lake City to an animal eye specialist. We would have taken him there initially, but we didn't know there was one here. Come to find out Bruce has an autoimmune disease that is attacking his dark pigments, essentially his eye and eye lid. He is on Prednisone pills and eye drops and it looks like they are working. He will need to be on some sort of medication for the rest of his life, but nothing we can't handle. Hopefully we can come up with a plan between the two eye specialist that works to keep his condition under control so he can keep having fun play dates with cute puppies like Dozer.
When I have down time at work I like to play jigsaw puzzles, and Brandon and Alanna would make fun of me until they discovered they were timed. Now we have puzzle competitions to see who can finish them the fastest. I am currently undefeated.
Aunt Mary will be here soon to join us! I am super excited because she gets to see Alanna play in her bout, and go to Moab with us for some fun. We have white water rafting planned and a trail ride. We will also go to Arches National Park, which I am super excited about! Other exciting news is Dana will be in Salt Lake City this weekend to play derby. Team 716!
Much Love & Happy Times,
The Blackshires
