Day 88- 94: Happy Halloween, Successful Cinnamon Rolls, and (more) Climbing

Wow! I cannot believe we are approaching 100 days of roaming! Although the next few months are pretty stationary, we are still exploring! We have many local adventures that we are hopefully going to get to before our departure.

Some of you might not be ready for winter this early, but we are getting very excited. There is snow on the mountain tops, and Winter Park opens today! A-Basin opened last Sunday with one run. We will be skiing within the next couple of weeks!

Alanna had multiple Halloween parties this week. Wednesday there was a costume party at youth group, and she went as a Zombie Roller Derbie player. Little did we know there was a costume contest. Guess who won. Go ahead and guess. I'll give you a minute... Alanna won first place! She even wore her new skates for the event. She did her own makeup, and it was frightening.

We dabbled with some peel and stick wallpaper this week. I am absolutely in love with the pattern! Was it easy? It wasn't at first, but then Brandon took over and that was much easier for me. Just kidding, he is the better fit to hang this up, but it still wasn't the easiest. I am going to be putting more up throughout the RV because it makes it feel more like a home, and because I just like it!

Pumpkins were carved this week. Alanna had exactly what she wanted to carve in mind, and we are super proud of her execution. She carved a pumpkin that has a baby pumpkin in its mouth. She carved it all on her own! Brandon carved the other pumpkin, and I separated the seeds, cooked them, and then ate almost all of them myself. It was a tough job, but someone had to do it!

I was determined to successfully make cinnamon rolls. The reviews were great! I think I might have nailed it, right down to the cream cheese frosting that was requested instead of icing. I don't want to publicly say my mom had competition for cinnamon rolls but call a duck a duck. She has some competition!

Brandon went climbing on Saturday at Poudre Face. The approach was something. They started by having to cross over the stream. The very, very cold stream. As soon as they crossed there was shoes all lined up from the people that have crossed already and left their shoes there to dry. After the stream it was very much up hill to the point of walking on all fours to refrain from falling. There were a good amount of people climbing, a few doggos out there, and there were people on slack lines walking from rock to rock. While Brandon was climbing Alanna was with Titi Dana (bffs) at a Halloween parade,

then at the Derby Halloween party. One would think that was a lot of skating, but nope. When I went to pick up Alanna, she was 100% ready to go meet up with friends to skate some more. I was able to take her for about an hour, where I received an unsolicited hug from Alanna. I played it cool, didn't make a big deal about the hug in hopes that it happens more often. After skating we came back home where they were having their trick-or-treating. We passed out candy to the few kids that were participating. Gosh, they were cute!

Sunday I had the pleasure of receiving a massage from Dana again. She really beat me up, but it was worth it! After the massage Brandon and I grabbed a quick bite to eat, came home, and got ready to watch the Bills game. Our neighbors have an outdoor TV, and we were able to watch with them. Not sure if you know this, but the Bills won.

Things we learned:
  • I can make cinnamon rolls!
  • Alanna is a pretty good makeup special affects artist
  • Good neighbors are greatly appreciated
  • There will be obstacles in the way to get to where you want to go
Much Love and Happy Times,

The Blackshire's

365 Days of Roaming!

Today is the official 365th day of being on the road. It's crazy to think about all we have done in the last 365 days, and even crazier...
